On November 1, 2011 former NEH player Cam Joyce committed to Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, which he will attend in 2012 on an academic and lacrosse scholarship.
Currently a senior at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree, Mass., Cam is on the honor roll, is a peer leader, and a mentor for Braintree Buddies, which provides afternoon events for mentally challenged students in that town. He also is on the school admissions council as class senator.
In addition to his academic credentials, Cam is a standout athlete. He recently helped his lacrosse team win the GAIT Cup, a highly competitive college recruiting tournament held in Gettysburg, Penn. that draws players from all 50 states, England, Canada and Ireland. Cam’s team played 10 games in four days and ultimately captured the championship. Cam racked up 18 goals and 11 assists over the course of the event.
“We are exceptionally proud of Cam’s achievements, both academically and athletically,” said NEH Owner Rob Barletta. “It is always our goal to help build not only stellar athletes, but stellar young men. It is clear that Cam is both.”
“Cam owes much of his success to the leadership shown by both Rob Barletta and Rob Reilly during his years with NEH,” said Bob Joyce, Cam’s dad. “The lessons he learned while at NEH have stuck with him, and will forever. Most kids go through life lucky to have one good mentor. Thanks to NEH, Cam had two. I can't tell you how much I have appreciated the support, encouragement, and positive coaching he has received. It has made him into the man he is today.” |
